Role of User Group Change Facilitator
The Change Facilitator’s (CF) role requires him/her to enhance the competitive capability of User Group member firms to compete in their markets, globally, through:
· Facilitating constructive dialogue between management and employees to improving productivity and economic performance
· Enhancing the capacity of all role players in firms to participate in transforming their workplace practices.
Below are activities performed by the CF at the different phases:
A User Group member company can expect of the CF to help in each of the phases.
ź NURTURING PHASE:
CF assists the WPC regional project managers to establish a User Group.
ź ORIENTATION PHASE:
§ CF co-ordinates activities of the orientation workshops with participating companies
§ CF obtains commitment forms and financial diagnostics from participating companies
§ CF assists participating companies to prepare for implementation, (selecting Champion, Master Sponsors, Sponsors, Team Leaders, establish Steering Committee, Plant Level Committees and mini-bbm usinesses)
§ CF facilitates training sessions in selected Workplace Transformation Toolkits
§ CF presents Best Operating Practice workshop
§ CF does Management, Supervisory and Employee Capacity Building
§ CF helps to do Workplace Skills Planning to integrate selected Workplace Transformation Toolkits with company’s Training Plan to be submitted to the relevant SETA.
ź IMPLEMENTATION PHASE:
§ Companies implement the selected Workplace Transformation Toolkits on their own, with some coaching from facilitator
§ CF co-ordinates the monthly cluster steering committee meetings
§ CF coordinates quarterly Milestone Workshops (“Bonang Re Etsang” or “Bonani Senzani” workshops), making sure companies share learning in a useful format
§ CF conducts bi-monthly coaching reviews with participating companies (companies do their own audits and the facilitator will do an external audit and coaching review every second month).
ź DATA COLLECTION PHASE:
CF co-ordinates with member companies on collecting information and making DVDs/videos on success stories.
