HOW DOES WPC FUNCTION?

The key Strategies of world-class practice organization include:

  • Focus on simultaneous improvement of quality, speed, cost; and morale;
  • Establish close links with customers and suppliers;
  • Drive both linear and non-linear improvement initiatives;
  • Eliminate all forms of waste and make value flow; and
  • Implement leadership practices that promote teamwork, participation, continuous learning and flexibility.

Once companies become part of the Workplace Challenge initiative they progress through several phases. These are segmented into the following:

  • Nurturing (Appreciation of the Workplace Challenge Process)
  • Orientation ( diagnosis, appointment of plant-level committees, development of individual company implementation plans, collaborative structures, and capacity building)
  • Implementation (Implementation of the improvement plans through collaborative structures; training of company champions/trainers in Best Operating Practice (BOP); implementation of Best Operating Practice materials by participating companies; shop-floor involvement in performance improvement; Sharing of the lessons learned as companies apply Best Operating Practice (BOP) in the form of milestone workshops and steering committee meetings and
  • Diffusion (Sharing of information and diffusion of lessons learnt to other firms and industry sectors; promotional efforts concentrate on change by using video testimony)
